Chicuchas Wasi began in 1987 focused on the society’s tolerated human rights violations of the many abandoned children, as young as 6 years old, surviving alone on the streets of Cusco, Peru. CW created a safe house including nutrition, health care, school, life skills, and more.

In response to Covid-19, we sent USD 19,000 from our reserve funds plus an additional USD 1,650 from a fund raising campaign through ‘Munch On’ to provide food parcels for 126 families living in remote villages as well as learning materials so the girls could continue their studies until the school in Cusco re-opens in March 2021. The school has been further able to set up an account with a local food supplier instead of shopping at the open markets which was not only safer but has resulted in 20% savings.
Multipurpose room
The school currently does not have an indoor facility larger than a classroom to host events, sports, theatre presentations or otherwise. The goal is to raise USD54,500 to build a dry multipurpose room for such activities once children can return to school.
