Description:

LATEST UPDATE - March 2014 (PROJECT COMPLETED!)

The renovation work at the Human Call Association's Hospital in Ein Al Hilweh refugee camp is now complete.  The sponsorship from the G4G challenge has paid for the new Nurses station, ceiling, painting and lights.  All PCRF projects are now complete!

Update - October 2013

We are happy to announce that renovation work on HCA's Hospital in Ein Al Hilweh is well underway.  G4G has paid out it's last donation to PCRF of $2900.  We are confident that the remaining work on the hospital will be completed soon.

Update - June 2013

G4G is happy to announce that the next PCRF project has been identified and the first part of the balance funds of US$8700 have been paid out. Project includes maintenance work at the Internal Ward of the Human Call Association Hospital at Ein Al Hilweh refugee camp located in the Lebanese city of Saida, 40kms south of Beirut.  Maintenance work will include roof isolation, false ceiling, electricty, door for Delivery Room, curtains for patient rooms, nurses' counter and refurbishment of waiting room.

Update - November 2012

All projects to date (dental equipment, surgery table and physiotherapy equipment) are complete.  Staff changes in PCRF’s Lebanon team have led to delays investing the final $12,000.   We are now working with the PCRF UAE team to advance this.

Update - March 2012

The final payment has been made to the PCRF for the delivery of surgical tables and all physiotherapy kit.   The great news is that there are still funds which have not yet been allocated, so we are awaiting the PCRF's proposals for further projects to help the children in Lebanon.

UPDATE - October 2011

Wonderful news!   The paediatric physiotherapy equipment (some of the items are pictured above) has arrived at Lana al Mustakbal in Saida.   This centre provides free care to disabled children not eligible to attend normal school.   While the Lana Al Mustakbal is an independent facility, the PCRF regularly refer children to the centre for rehabilitation following PCRF-funded surgery.

The equipment is now being installed, with some already in operation.

Meanwhile, the PCRF continue to develop their pediatric dental program.  The new dental surgical table is ordered and should be in place by early December. This is in addition to the dental equipment procured with G4G funds in 2010.

UPDATE - June 2011

Our initial donation of $17,000 was used to purchase pediatric dental equipment to treat children within Beirut’s refugee camps.

More recently, we have approved procurement of an Operating Table for use within the PCRF Haifa Hospital (Beirut) used frequently for PCRF cases.   To date G4G have sent 50% of the $9,850 purchase price.

We have also recently approved the procurement of physiotherapy kit for treatment of special needs children at the Lana Al Mustakbal Centre in Saida.   This centre provides free care to disabled children not eligible to attend normal school.   While the Lana Al Mustakbal is an independent facility, the PCRF regularly refer children to the centre for rehabilitation following PCRF-funded surgery.   To date, 50% of the $7,268 cost has been sent to the PCRF.

UPDATE - February 2011

The paediatric dental equipment for PCRF funded by Gulf for Good is now in use at the refugee camps.   We will also be procuring dental tools and a laptop for use in managing dental patient information.   To date, we have donated US $17k to PCRF.  We are also seeking additional projects with the PCRF in Lebanon to make use of additional funds remaining.

ORIGINAL INFORMATION

The PCRF is to be supported by the PCRF Lebanon Mountain Eco-Trail in May 2011.   At this stage, it is hoped that funds raised will buy medical equipment for the Safad Hospital in Nahar Al Bared Refugee Camp in Tripoli, Lebanon.   The medical equipment is needed for infant care, such as transportable baby incubators, infant radiant warmers, cardiac monitors, etc.

The PCRF was also of the charities supported by the Lebanon Mountain Eco Trail challenge in May 2010.  Whilst visiting the PCRF school in the Shatilla refugee camp in Beirut, the challengers helped to scrape paint off a school wall to prepare it for redecoration (as shown in the above photo).

Funds raised will be used to buy x-ray machine and emergency dental equipment for use in the refugee camps in Lebanon.   This equipment would have a wide reach and potentially be used to treat thousands of child refugees.
