Walk in the Wilderness: The Goat Trail

Balcony Walk.jpg

Date: 11th January 2019  |  Venue: Wadi Ghalila  |  Time : 08:30 - 17:30

Located beside the popular 'Stairway to Heaven', this safe trail offers the same fantastic views along a managed trail. After walking through a wadi bed we will follow steep goat trails up the side of the mountain, then walking along a balcony with a drop on one side (balcony about 2m wide and flat). Next, we continue to make our way up to a dry waterfall (total elevation gain 670m) where we'll take a break enjoying the view and some rest. Depending on our pace we'll then continue up as far as an escarpment view, passing small mountain farms.

HIKE DIFFICULTY: Demanding. We go up 800m and some bits are little tricky. However, there is no scrambling. It is achievable by anyone in good health that works out from time to time and wants to take on this trek.

This hike is not suitable for first-timers or those afraid of heights.

Elevation gain: 800m

Distance: approx. 13-14km
