"For the third year in a row LivingSocial will help improve the lives of those in need internationally, and we are proud to be a part of the 12 Days of Giving Program," said Dan Stuart, Managing Director of LivingSocial Middle East. "As a company dedicated to local commerce we're excited to be working with GlobalGiving and playing an important role in directly helping local communities and in encouraging charitable work in our region with two worthy organizations."
In keeping with LivingSocial's global presence, the company has partnered with two charity organizations dedicated to grassroots giving: GlobalGiving and Marine Toys for Tots Foundation. LivingSocial will donate 1% of the proceeds from every daily deal purchased in Lebanon and the UAE, Australia, New Zealand, France, Canada, Ireland UK and the Netherlands to local charities and not-for-profit organizations through GlobalGiving, an organization connecting people with local causes and projects in over 100 countries. Additionally LivingSocial will donate proceeds from daily deals in the US to Marine Toys for Tots Foundation, a charity that delivers not just new toys, but a message of hope to less fortunate children.
In Dubai, LivingSocial will support Gulf For Good, a Dubai-based charity under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum that organizes exciting adventure challenges around the world inspiring people to do something unusual. Participants raise funds, which are then donated to handpicked charities in the region where the challenge is held. In Lebanon, LivingSocial will support Empower 20 Female Entrepreneurs in Lebanon, a charity that provides 20 female entrepreneurs from marginalized communities in Northern Lebanon with training in the business and personal skills required to launch and sustain a commercial enterprise.
"By engaging its members around the globe, LivingSocial continues to support important causes internationally," said Donna Callejon, Chief Business Officer for GlobalGiving. "Projects being supported by LivingSocial range from making wishes come true for sick children in France to funding ongoing rebuilding after the Christchurch earthquake in New Zealand."
During the 12 Days of Giving, LivingSocial will support GlobalGiving projects in participating countries based on the total proceeds from Daily Deals sold.
