Borneo Challenge

July 5th - 13th, 2007

This multi-activity challenge, set in the Sabah region of Borneo was an adventure of a lifetime. Traversing through flourishing rainforests, high mountain summits, fast flowing rivers and tropical jungles - home of the Orangutans. This challenge has taken the participants on the ultimate journey of self-discovery, in the company of like-minded individuals. 

This 9-day Challenge included kayaking in the Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park, cycling around the Sabah Tea plantation, bamboo rafting in the Kuilu River and hiking to the summit of Mount Kinabalu (4,095m/13,450ft). Funds raised will go to Borneo Child Aid.

Musandam Challenge

December 8th - 14th, 2006

Musandam is the northern-most part of Oman, jutting out into the Straits of Hormuz at the entrance to the Arabian Gulf. It is dominated by stunning fjord-like inlets, small islands and a breathtaking coastline.

A 7-day kayaking challenge around the Musandam Peninsula from Khasab to Dibba. Funds raised will go to charities for children and the blind in Oman.

RAK Family Challenge

November 3rd -4th, 2006

Ras Al Khaimah is nestled between the Hajjar mountains on the East and the Arabian Gulf on the west and shares mountainous borders with the Sultanate of Oman. It is rapidly reinventing itself as the Middle East's best tourism hub. It is an exotic blend of the majestic Hajjar mountains, the spectacular Musandam peninsula, calm blue seas, dramatic desert dunes, timeless cultutal legacies and the special warmth of Arabian hospitality.

This 2 day family challenge in the mountains of Ras Al Khaimah is rated at an easy fitness level. If you've ever thought of doing something that will not only involve the entire family but will also help others - this is your chance.

Journey to the Centre of the Earth - Mongolia

September 24th - Oct 3rd, 2006

A vast and beautiful nation in the heart of Central Asia, beckons with a rare glimpse into an ancient culture with a significant history. Discovering this land of horse-mounted nomads, Buddhist temples, ancient volcanoes, and prehistoric fossils is as much a journey back in time as an expedition of exploration.

Mongolia is not just the forbidding Gobi Desert- it is also a country of snow-capped mountains, pine scented forests and crystal clear rivers and lakes. One tenth of Mongolia's territory has been set aside into a system of protected areas which provide habitat for plant and animal species that have all but disappeared from the rest of the continent. Funds raised during this challenge will go towards needy childrens' charities in Mongolia.

Mount Kilimanjaro - Tanzania 2006

July 6th - 14th, 2006( Marangu Route)

G4G will be returning to East Africa for the third time. Rising in lonely splendour to an altitude of 19,340 feet above the Savannah plains of northern Tanzania, the glaciated summit of Mount Kilimanjaro is the highest point on the African continent and the world's highest free-standing mountain.

From cultivated farmlands on the lower levels, Kilimanjaro rises through lush rainforest to alpine meadows and across barren landscape to the twin summits of Kibo and Mawenzi. Funds raised will go towards renovating the Kilimanjaro Primary School in the western part of Marangu, Moshi district, Tanzania.

Walk the Wild Wall Challenge

May 11th - 20th, 2006

The challenge will begin at the Badaling Great Wall. After trekking for 3 days, we will end up at Huanghua Cheng, followed by a well deserved 'rest day'. We then continue our trek for another 3 days from Gubekou to Jinshanling and finish off at the Simatai Great Wall.

Good fitness and flexibility are required, but no previous trekking experience is necessary.

If you've ever thought of doing something that will not only test your limits but help others - this is your chance.

The Inca Trail Challenge
Trekking to Machu Picchu

Oct 28t - November 5th & Nov 11th-19th, 2005

Gulf for Good's first challenge in the Americas will take you to MAchu Picchu in the mountains of Peru. Traveling from Cuzco to the Sacred Valley, we will trek the famous Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, the awe-inspiring lost city of the Incas.

Our challenge in Peru will aim to improve the lives of children in the poor, impoverished communities in Pisaq. Funds raised will be used to improve child education, health and hygiene standards and the general lifestyle of the communities within these villages.

The Tsunami Challenge
Hiking & Biking across Sri Lanka

4th-13th August, 2005

This will be G4G's 14th Challenge. The challenges have included trekking, cycling & kayaking adventures in Morocco, Egypt, India, Tanzania, Thailand, Nepal, the UAE & Jordan. So far, 200 people of 30 nationalities have taken part - about 50% of them women - ranging in age from 16 to 63. Almost 2 million Dirhams have been raised for charities in the above and neighbouring countries.

On average, one third of all money raised pays for the challenge expenses, with the balance going to the chosen charities and projects. All challenges and expenditure are supervised and monitored by the G4G's volunteer Board of Governors and auditors.

"In the Footsteps of Lawrence" Challenge - Jordan

21st - 28th April, 2005



Passing through diverse terrain from the lowest point on earth on the shores of the Dead Sea through Petra, ancient Nabatean capital, to Wadi Rum.

Trekking through abundant wadis rich in flora and fauna, over ancient switchback camel routes, past sites of antiguity dating from the dawn of history.

The Great Asian Challenge

13th - 23rd January 2005

Cycling from Bangkok to Angkor Wat in Cambodia

From Bangkok, cycling alongside rivers, past farming villages and paddy fields. Crossing the Khao Tai and Pran Sida National Parks heading south to the Cambodian border through the rolling Khorat countryside.

Traveling from the border to Sisophon, aiming for Battambang and then on to Siem Reap. On reaching Angkor Wat, there will be an opportunity to visit some of the famous temples enshrining beautiful Khmer carvings of different cultures and religions.

Emirates Adventure Challenge 2003, U.A.E.
In February 2003, 13 challengers cycled around the Northern Emirates (more than 450 kms in 5 days) to raise funds for local charities. A donation in the form of physiotherapy equipment will be made shortly to Sharjah City Humanitarian Services.

Mount Everest Base Camp Challenge, Nepal
In October 2002, 41 people trekked to the base of the mightiest mountain in the world in order to raise funds to build and equip a clinic in Ilam, a Himalayan Health Care project to improve medical facilities for poor rural communities living in remote areas of Nepal.

Golden Triangle, Thailand
In December 2001, a group of adventurers traveled to Thailand for a 9 day trekking, cycling and kayaking challenge covering some 350 kms from Chaignmai to the Golden Triangle. The participants raised funds for the renovation of a children's orphanage in Bangkok and for the Christina Noble Foundation in Vietnam.

Conquering Kilimanjaro
Our first Challenge in July 2001 saw 49 people climbing Africa's highest mountain, Mount Kilimanjaro. The funds from this challenge purchased four 4WD ambulances for use by poor communities in Tanzania, Malawi and Namibia.
