Rakaposhi Base Camp Trek (Diran Base camp included) starting and ending in Islamabad. This trek route is located in the region of Minapin Village in the Nagar Valley of Northern Areas Gilgit-Baltistan.

FUNDRAISING: This charity challenge will be announced shortly.

Together, our goal is to raise USD 20,000. To ensure we achieve our targets, we request each individual to fundraise USD 2,000 so that together, we can succeed.

FITNESS LEVEL: This will be a test of fitness and determination. There is no technical climbing, but there will be some challenging sections. Regular fitness training and long-distance walking is highly recommended. Click here to read more about the challenge difficulty levels.

TRAINING: We run a variety of training sessions throughout the year and our Hiking for Good programme (between mid-Oct to mid-Mar) that we encourage you to take part in before the challenge.

PAYMENT DEADLINES:

  • On registration AED1,000 (USD275) deposit toward the Challenge Expenses (non-refundable and non-transferable) paid to Gulf for Good to reserve your space on the challenge. This includes the non-refundable and non-transferable Inca Trail permit
  • 24th February 2023: AED2,500 (USD680), 50% remaining balance towards the Challenge Expenses paid to Gulf for Good
  • 7th April 2023: AED2,500 (USD680), 50% final balance towards the Challenge Expenses paid to Gulf for Good
  • 12th May 2023: AED5,000 (USD1,360) minimum Charity Donation paid to International Humanitarian City

Day1

Friday 16th May

Arrive in Islamabad airport and transferred to hotel

Day2

Saturday 17th May

After breakfast we depart for the domestic airport for a flight (under 1 hour) to Gilgit. From Gilgit we drive to Hunza Minapin stopping at Rakaposhi viewpoint for Lunch.

Arrival in Minapin and check into Hotel before exploring the beautiful valley.

Day3

Sunday 18th May

In the morning we trek from Minapin to Hapakun to 2,800m (approx 3 hours, 6 km, with an 800m ascent) and where we reach the grassy meadows of Hapakun.

Day4

Monday 19th May

Today we trek from Hapakun to Tagaphari 3300m (2-3 hours, 3km, 450m ascent) – a steep trail that continues from Hapakun to Rakaposhi Base Camp, also known as Tagaphari.

The trail eases off and contours the rocky slope for 30 minutes to a verdant bowl. You can have a view of Diran Peak, and Rakaposhi, and their interconnecting ice wall finally come into full view.

After reaching Tagaphari can climb the ridge to have a nice view of Hunza Valley and the mountains. Rakaposhi base camp trek is one of the best adventures in Pakistan.

Day5

Tuesday 20th May

Today, we do an early morning hike to Kacheli Lake before hiking back to Rakaposhi basecamp (5-6 hours trekking)

Day7

Thursday 22nd May

This morning we drive to Gilgit airport for our flight back to Islamabad where we transfer to the hotel. Time permitting we will visit Shah Faisal Mosque and Pakistan Monument

Friday 28th May

Today is our charity visit.

If we have any time to spare we will visit the Edhi Center, the Famous Historical Raja Bazar in Rawalpindi and Railway Station

The Citizens Foundation (TCF) is requesting Gulf for Good to support the TCF Primary School Ghulam Faruque Campus in Nowshera, KPK for the school year 2023 2024. The schools are rolling out TCF’s research-based early year’s program that helps students build 21st-Century skills through play-based learning.

Approximately 180 students, 9 female faculty, and over 1,000 community members will benefit from the Foundation’s support. Major expenses for school operations include salaries and allowances for the female faculty and support staff, school supplies and monitoring and administrative costs.
